Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gaming is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime location, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is true of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel building that contains a number of amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
