Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that features numerous comforts on top of the casino, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
